How do I know if therapy is right for me?
Therapy can be helpful if you’re experiencing emotional distress, life transitions, relationship challenges, or patterns you’d like to change. You don’t need to be in crisis to begin therapy.
What happens in the first session?
The first session is an opportunity to talk about what brings you to therapy, your goals, and your background. You will also have time to ask questions and and see if Dr. Irma feels like a good fit.
What do we talk about in therapy?
You can talk about anything that feels important, such as, thoughts, emotions, relationships, past experiences, or current concerns. The pace and focus are guided collaboratively
Does Dr. Irma accept insurance?
While Dr. Irma does not accept insurance, she does provide clients with a super-bill that can be submitted to insurance companies for reimbursement.
What therapeutic approaches does Dr. Irma use?
Dr. Irma makes every effort to meet the individualized needs of her clients and has been trained in various treatment approaches such as: Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Somatic Experiencing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), Parts Work Therapy, Structural Family Therapy, Humanistic-Existential Therapy, to name a few.
How much does therapy cost?
Fees vary depending on session type. A limited number of reduced-fee sessions may be available. Please contact Dr. Irma to learn more about current rates and options.
How are services offered?
Therapy is offered in-person and virtually.
How often will we meet?
Most clients meet weekly, especially at the beginning. Session frequency may change depending on your needs and goals.
Is therapy confidential?
YES. Therapy is confidential, with limited legal exceptions such as risk of harm to yourself or others, or suspected abuse of a minor, elder, or dependent adult.
Information is NOT shared without your written consent, except in situations required by law.
What if I want to stop therapy?
You are free to stop therapy at any time. While it can be helpful to discuss this with Dr. Irma, the decision is always yours.
